VivaLife has plans for a residential lifestyle village in Kyneton nearby the imminent Bunnings, service station and convenience restaurant on Edgecombe Road.

The proposal is to develop 12 hectares for 183 independent living units with associated communal facilities and on-site car parking.

Recreation facilities mentioned in the plans included ball games (bowls/bocce/pickle ball), gym, pool, cinema/billiards room, gardens, a village bus, community vegetable gardens, and a men’s shed.

Plans show the development is for part of the land at 106 Edgecombe Road and 3 Baynton Road and would be completed in six to seven stages.

The application is separate to – but on land that formed part of – the 42-lot subdivision for Edgecombe Road that was approved by Macedon Ranges Shire Council in 2020.

VivaLife is the trading name of Viva Lifestyle Villages, which aims to build a portfolio of lifestyle villages.

They describe the villages as for older residents with modern, affordable accommodation in which they can transition to retirement.

The villages are ‘land lease communities’ meaning the unit owner leases the site upon which their unit is located.

A weekly site fee is charged, and occupancy is secured via a long-term lease of 90 years.

Last week, VivaLife advertised the application would be decided at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to review the council’s failure to grant a permit within the prescribed timeframe.

The VCAT case is expected to be heard in June following a compulsory conference at the end of March.
