Queerthentic returns

Macedon Ranges Accessible Arts is proud to present the return of Queerthentic, an inclusive art exhibition and art prize celebrating LGBTQIA+ identity and experience.

The exhibition is currently on show until May 26 at The Old Auction House, Kyneton.

Now in its third year, Queerthentic continues to uplift the voices and stories of LGBTQIA+ artists from across the region and beyond, showcasing a dynamic range of works across different mediums—including painting, photography, sculpture, multimedia and more. The exhibition invites audiences of all ages and backgrounds to experience authentic queer perspectives and join in community celebration.

Join the gallery to celebrate the winners and $2000 worth of prizes will be awarded to standout artists on Saturday May 17 from 1pm to 4pm. This year’s event is extra special, as the celebration coincides with IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia).

The public is warmly invited to join in this family-friendly afternoon of music, creativity and community connection. Nibbles and refreshments will be provided. Everyone will have the opportunity to vote for people’s choice award. This celebration is a fantastic opportunity to stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, support local and regional artists, and enjoy a welcoming and inclusive event.

At this year’s celebration there will be performances by the Rainbow Voices Community choir and Bendigo-based performer Frankie Bell.

As an exciting bonus, previous Queerthentic prize-winner Alistaire Fowler will also return to exhibit a solo collection of works from May 15 to June 2, running concurrently with the group show. Fowler’s work has been praised for its bold style and emotional depth, and his return promises to be a highlight of the program.

Whether you’re an art lover, a community ally, or looking for a positive, inclusive space to celebrate IDAHOBIT and the winners of this regional art prize, Queerthentic is not to be missed. Entry is free, and all are welcome.
