Get ready for the Gisborne Festival

Pictured is the monster truck and its mini offsider that will be at the Lions Gisborne Festival.

The Lions Gisborne Festival is on this Friday at Gardiner Reserve.

There will be music on stage throughout the night, a range of free activities for kids, carnival rides, market and food stalls, a parade through the streets, and a giant fireworks display.

The street parade along Aitken Street will include 36 plus entries comprising colourful floats, the spectacular Bendigo Chinese Lions, monster truck and its mini offsider, giant dragon, community groups, Santa, local clubs, schools, kindergartens and sporting groups.

The free activities at Gardiner Reserve will include face painting, hair braiding and sparkles, henna tattoos, a jumping castle, reptile display, miniature trains, and netball participation.

Parents can take photos of their kids with the monster truck and dragon, and youngsters can avail themselves of the wandering stilt lady handing out lollies.

The Gisborne and District Lions Club has been working for months to ensure that the festival is bigger and better than ever.

Costing about $30,000 to stage, the festival is funded by 25 entities with the aim of bringing the community together for an affordable night of fun.

Go along and enjoy the entertainment at what promises to be an amazing community event for Gisborne and the surrounding areas.

This free community festival will be held at Gardiner Reserve on Friday, December 12, from 4.30pm to 9.30pm.
