This winter, Jubilee Hall in Macedon will come alive with scales, feathers, fur and fascinating facts as TV Zoologist Chris Humfrey and the Wild Action team present their unforgettable Winter School Holiday Wildlife Workshops.
Children and adults alike are invited to Take a Walk on the Wildside and come face-to-face with an extraordinary lineup of Australian wildlife in a fun, ethical and deeply educational 90-minute experience.
These hands-on workshops are designed to spark curiosity, build respect for nature and help families understand why protecting biodiversity in the Macedon Ranges matters more than ever.
“Wild Action is bringing an unbelievable selection of wildlife to Jubilee Hall,” Chris says.
“These animals are not just amazing to look at — they are ambassadors for their wild cousins. When people meet them up close, they care. And when they care, they protect.”
Guests will learn why the humble wombat is one of the only animals in the world to produce cube-shaped poo, and how that unusual talent helps it mark its territory. They’ll discover what brush-tailed bettongs do for the environment — these tiny marsupial ‘ecosystem engineers’ dig through the soil, spreading fungi, seeds and nutrients that help keep bushland healthy.
There will be loads of fun facts, unforgettable animal interactions and fabulous photo opportunities. Families will learn about classification, adaptations, habitats, threats and ecological niches, while also discovering simple ways we can all help wildlife — from keeping cats contained, avoiding rodenticides, driving carefully at dusk and dawn, planting habitat, supporting rescue groups and protecting the precious bushland around the Macedon Ranges.
This is wildlife education with heart. Every animal is presented with respect, care and a strong conservation message. Wild Action’s goal is simple: to make learning about wildlife exciting, memorable and meaningful.
Best of all, 10 per cent of proceeds will go to wildlife rescue organisations, supporting the dedicated local volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate and protect injured and orphaned wildlife.
With two workshops daily at 11am and 2pm, spaces are limited and early booking is recommended at wildaction.com.au/take-a-walk-on-the-wild/#book-now
“We guarantee this will be the best wildlife immersion you have ever experienced — fun, ethical, educational and absolutely unforgettable,” Chris says.
So rug up, bring the family and get ready to meet some of Australia’s most incredible creatures these school holidays at Jubilee Hall, Macedon.
