The Castlemaine Magpies Central Victorian Football League Women’s side continued on its winning way last Sunday with a solid victory over Bendigo Thunder at Weeroona Oval Bendigo.

The determined Thunder outfit held sway early in the match. The side came out firing kicking three goals to one in the opening term and led by 12 points at quarter time.

The second term was more of an arm-wrestle with both sides only managing one goal each.

However, after half-time it was all one-way traffic with the Magpies showing their class kicking another seven goals while keeping the Thunder scoreless.

Castlemaine won 1.1, 2.3, 5.10, 9.14 (68) to 3.1, 4.1, 4.1, 4.1 (25) to maintain their unbeaten run and retain top spot on the CVFLW ladder. A fantastic effort in their inaugural season in the competition.

Shelby Knoll led the way booting five goals for the Magpies, with Eloise Gretgrix kicking two and Meg Ginnivan and Lily McMahon one each.

Best on ground for the Magpie Women were Tia Davidge, Meg Ginnivan, Scarlett Orritt, Jemma Finning, Shelby Knoll and Bridie Semmens.
