World best for Greg

Kyneton ultramarathon runner Greg Wilson claimed a World Best Performance title at the Southern Sydney Six hour Ultra last week.

Greg set a new M70 6 Hour world best performance at 63.8km beating Paul Aillery’s 60.994km recorded last year.

He also bet his own six hour personal best and secured fifth place in the event overall.

“I went out pretty hard so I didn’t have any excuses,” he said, “but I knew I would pay for it later.”

“The real battle was to keep telling my legs to turn over and keep going.

“I hope I’ve made it a bit harder for whoever comes along to try and knock it over.”

At Sydney last year, Greg ran 65.230km but was four days too young for M70.

He now holds nine Australian records and one world record. His most recent claim was smashing racing legend Cliff Young’s long-held 48-hour Australian M70 Age Record earlier this year.

Wilson claimed the 30-year-long held title with an impressive 287.404km finish at Sri Chinmoy in Canberra, adding 22.604kms to the record.
