Kyneton Bowling Club’s new singles champions were decided on Friday afternoon.
Some qualify bowling was on display, with Greg Podesta — formerly with Kangaroo Flat — the new men’s champion in his first season with Kyneton.
Denise Knight won her third Kyneton championship, equalling the record of opponent Christine Plowman.
The men’s final brought together quality players in Podesta and Terry Kelly, with opinions divided about the likely outcome.
Podesta opened up a very handy lead before Kelly fought back with ends see-sawing.
A noted driver, Podesta used this shot to advantage at vital stages.
Eventually, he prevailed 25-20 in a very worthy final.
In the women’s final, Knight secured an early advantage, but Plowman was not to be denied.
The match came alive and was in the balance before Knight was able to win 25-23.
