The Macedon Ranges Basketball Association Under 12 girls won their grand final at the Basketball Victoria Junior Country Championships in Bendigo on the weekend.
The MRBA Under 12 Boys put in a tremendous performance across the weekend and were narrowly defeated in a heart-stopping Division 5 Semi Final, going down by just one point to Wallan, 47–48.
Meanwhile, the MRBA Under 12 Girls finished their tournament on a high, claiming victory in the Division 5 Grand Final against Wangaratta with a well-earned 35–31 win.
After a hard-fought battle, the girls showed true resilience, teamwork and determination to defeat Wangaratta bringing home the title. Their effort, dedication and never-give-up attitude are a true credit to themselves, their coaches and the club.
DOUBLE GRAND FINAL GLORY FOR UNDER 14S
The previous weekend in Ballarat was unforgettable for both the MRBA Under 14 Boys and Girls teams, who were crowned champions in their divisions at the championships.
Competing against the best regional teams from across Victoria, the MRBA Rockies teams delivered outstanding performances, demonstrating skill, determination, and a true team spirit.
The Under 14 Girls led the way with a gritty and disciplined performance in their Grand Final against a determined opponent. In a tightly contested match, the MRBA Rockies girls held their nerve to claim a well-deserved 32 to 25 victory over Wodonga, completing a historic double championship win for the association.
And not to be out done, the Under 14 Boys stamped their authority on the competition, in a commanding display, powering their way to a convincing grand final victory over Colac. The boys controlled the game from start to finish, claiming the title with a dominant scoreline of 61 to 28.
This latest success follows a strong representative season for MRBA. The Under 18 Boys were crowned runners up in Bendigo in February, while the Under 16 Boys and Girls teams representing the region proudly in Melton during March.
