Chasing four premierships in succession, Woodend-Hesket A-grade netballers reached the RDFNL grand final by defeating Riddell 55-41 in Saturday’s semi-final.
The Ty Coppinger-coached Hawks had to work hard to overcome the Bombers, drawing away in the last quarter in the clash between these two keen rivals at Kyneton Showgrounds.
With an array of quality young netballers, Riddell has another chance to reach the grand final.
Talented youngster Jessica Martin celebrated her 100th match with her home town Hawks, and she is keen to chalk up number four on Saturday week.
Woodend-Hesket players usually combine well, and their 14-shot margin delighted their strong band of supporters.
In the B-grade semi-final at Kyneton, Lancefield won a spot in the grand final by accounting for Wallan 47-39.
Gisborne Giants outplayed Riddell in a thrilling 43-41 C-grade encounter.
Lancefield D-graders showed their worth with a 32-30 victory over Diggers Rest.
The round of matches at Kyneton opened with a 19&Under thriller between Riddell and Melton South, the Bombers prevailing 44-43.
