The Trentham FNC Reserves side has capped off their season with a premiership victory over Talbot in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League.
In a hard-fought opening term, the Saints managed to squeeze through two goals to the Hawks’ one for the term to hold a slender four-point advantage at the first change.
In the second stanza the Trentham side really showed their class slamming through another three crucial goals, while holding Talbot to just one for the term.
At half-time the margin had blown out to 15 points.
The third quarter was more of an arm wrestle as the two sides vied for ascendency and the upper hand kicking two goals apiece.
Trentham held on by 14 points at the final change.
The last quarter descended into an absolute desperate scrap as both sides tried to make an impact. Trentham managing just one point for the term, while keeping the Hawk’s scoreless to run out premiers by 15 points.
Final scores were Trentham 2.1, 5.1, 7.1, 7.2 (44) to Talbot 1.3, 2.4, 4.5, 4.5 (29).
