Artwork by Castlemaine’s Kylie Cuthbertson will be featured in upcoming episodes of The Block, this season filmed at South Gisborne.
The artist’s work was discovered by one of the show’s producers who invited her to create pieces to offer to contestants.
“House One chose a work for a room that they did,” she told Express.
“After that, the producer asked me to come and do a residency on site and create more pieces for the contestants to choose from.”
The artist’s work is bold and bright with a focus on birds and other animals.
After studying fine art at university, Cutherbertson moved into the animal industry as a veterinary nurse and dog groomer for 12 years.
“We decided to do a treechange four years ago and move to Castlemaine and get back to my art roots,” she said.
“I’ve been painting full-time since we moved here.”
Cuthbertson’s work is displayed at Portia and Co in Maldon and Awaken Coffee Bendigo and on her Instagram page at kylie4art.
