A man had to be rescued from a gully after his vehicle crashed at Muckleford last Thursday afternoon.

Paramedics were called to the scene of the single-vehicle collision about 2.30pm.

A short time later SES Castlemaine were called to assist ambulance crews at the incident on Sawmill Road, where the vehicle had left the road and came to rest in a gully.

SES volunteers used their all-terrain mule to transfer the injured driver from the gully to a waiting ambulance.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the male in his 40s was transported by road to Bendigo Hospital in a stable condition, with upper body injuries.

SES members said their thoughts were with the casualty and their family.

At the incident a dog travelling in the vehicle became scared and ran off into the surrounding bush. In better news, overnight the dog was found and returned to his owners.
