Kyneton owner-trainer Edmund Bourke broke through for a winner when Savvie Blanc won at Echuca on Sunday.
Raced by Bourke and his wife Mary, the five-year-old was having his third race start, having run second at the same track on June 3.
Breeding and racing gallopers has been a Bourke hobby for the past decade, and there are high hopes the galloper will continue to improve.
Starting as a $4.40 chance, Savvie Blanc was well ridden by Cameron Quilty in the 1400m Two Tests Catering Maiden over 1400m.
Another Kyneton galloper, Habitual, trained by Marita Lawson, was runner-up in the race.
TWO FOR HOWLEY
Macedon Ranges trainer Liam Howley produced winners at Geelong and Echuca at the weekend.
Four-year-old mare Contacted was having her tenth start when she won a 1400m Maiden at Echuca on Sunday.
Alana Kelly rode the galloper who won by 0.8 of a length and was well in the market.
On Saturday, Howley won a 1412m BM58 event at Geelong with Onlygoldwilldo.
It was the four-year-old’s third race success.
Rose Hammond rode the $21 chance very patiently and made a well-timed run in the straight.
Connections feel the winner will improve as he was racing first-up from a spell.
