The Kyneton Croquet Club celebrates 150 years of croquet play in Kyneton this year, making it the oldest croquet club in all of Australia, and one of the oldest in the world. The club was founded only eight years after Wimbledon, long regarded as the home of croquet (before the tennis).
To share this history on the beautiful Kyneton lawns, the club is offering ‘Come and Try’ twilight sessions every Wednesday evening at 5-7pm during all of January and February, at the historic lawns and clubhouse located at the corner of Ebden and Donnithorne Streets, Kyneton.
Croquet is a great sport that combines gentle exercise, strategic thinking and social interaction. It is a sport suitable for all ages, where men and women compete on equal terms. All tuition and equipment is provided, and no need to book, just turn up in flat-soled shoes (to protect the lawns).
