Castlemaine Football Netball Club’s Women’s and Under 18 Girls football sides tackled White Hills in an AFL Central Vic double header at the Camp Reserve on Sunday.
The Under 18 Girls were first to hit the park against the Demons.
White Hills were on the board early with a goal and the Magpies trailed by seven points at quarter-time.
The Magpies snatched one back in the second, but the Dees kicked two more to lead by 16 points at half-time.
The Demons continued to dominate in the second half kicking three more goals to the Magpies one to win the low-scoring affair by 26 points.
Goal kickers for Castlemaine were Isobelle Pratt and Ava Bartlett.
Best were Shelby Kitchingman, Olivia Muscat, Kate Batchelor, Tegan Barry, Isobelle Pratt and Aaliyah Greenwell.
The Magpies are currently sitting in fifth spot and will look to jump back onto the winners list when they hit the road to face Echuca United this Sunday.
The Magpies and Demons both came into the Women’s match off the back of wins and hungry for more.
Castlemaine snapped two goals in the opening term and kept the Demons scoreless.
The Magpies snatched two more in the second term and held the visitors to a solitary point to have a 32-point advantage at half-time.
The Demons lifted their intensity in the third term, applying plenty of pressure on the Magpies and finally got a goal on the board. The Magpies also kicked another major to remain 33 points up at the final change.
The Magpies put their foot down in the last quarter slamming on another three goals and keeping White Hills scoreless to win by a comfortable 53 points.
Goal kickers were Georgia Gordon 3, Jemma Finnings 2, Tiahna Cochrane, Eillish Cumming and Grace Brady.
Best for the Magpies were Eillish Cumming, Taylah Sartori, Tiahna Cochrane, Georgia Gordon, Jemma Finning and Maddi Brackenreg.
The Magpies sit in second spot trailing Golden Square on percentage. This Sunday the Magpies will host the Bendigo Women’s side at Camp Reserve at 1pm.
