Newham General is back and buzzing after reopening its doors to the public on Friday.
The town has been without its general store and community hub since it closed in 2024 and local residents were queued up to sample the menu last week.
Owner Jo Bombardier said launch day “did not have many quiet moments”.
“We were actually overwhelmed by the number of people,” she said.
“It was great to see that most of them were local residents with a few others stopping off as they passed through.”
Jo, from Woodend, was delighted at the opportunity to give the store new life has reopened the store with her daughter Kayla and son-in-law Nicholas Sheppard. Her son Harley and Kayla were also assisting on Friday.
The new-look European farmhouse style cafe was reintroduced with a cosy ‘Christmas in July’ theme.
Festive decor and menu options are on offer this month alongside the gourmet pastries, range of organic tea, matcha and old favourites.
The most popular items on the menu on Friday? The hot toasties and coffee!
A Christmas in July theme will continue at Newham General for the month. Try the peppermint hot chocolate, gingerbread men and turkey cranberry toastie while they are available. Official store opening times will soon be posted on the @newham_general Instagram page.
