Step behind the badge and discover the rich history and modern policing of the Macedon Ranges at Kyneton Police’s inaugural Emergency Services Community Open Day.
Bring the whole family for a unique opportunity to tour the Kyneton Police Station and meet members from some of Victoria Police’s specialist units and their partners including Kyneton CFA, SES and Ambulance Victoria.
Visitors will also have the rare chance to step inside the very cell that housed Ned Kelly for three weeks in 1870, offering a fascinating glimpse into one of Australia’s most famous historical stories.
Acting Senior Sergeant at Kyneton, Hayley Zagari, said emergency services personnel were looking forward to welcoming people to the police station and the fire station.
“It will be a great event for families and people interested in the history of the police station and the Ned Kelly cell,” she said.
“There’ll be heaps for kids to do and things to look at and interactive opportunities, so we hope to see everyone down here on the fifth of September.”
There will be plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the day, including guided tours of the station, displays from police, CFA and the Woodend SES, viewing of the historic Ned Kelly cell, coffee and doughnuts, a sausage sizzle, forensic finger printing, face painting for the kids, and water and hose activities with the CFA.
