Mountain Distilling has struck a partnership with conservation group ‘aTree’ with a shared vision to restore and protect Australia’s forests.
The Mount Macedon distillery has commissioned a planting of more than 3000 native trees on dedicated conservation land in Victoria through the ‘aTree’ program, beginning this month.
Linking with aTree, which launched in late 2019, comes as part of the distillery founders’ commitment to sustainability.
“Since launching Mountain, we’ve been committed to the vision of having positive social and environmental impact through the business, and this is a great first step into that vision for us,” Mountain’s George Cremasco said.
Implementing the new initiative has been one of the first milestones resulting from Mountain Distilling’s dedicated social and environmental impact fund that was established from day one of the business start-up.
“We have also built this initiative into our online/ecommerce platform, committing to plant a tree with any orders on our website over $100 plus free shipping anywhere in Australia,” Mountain’s Michael Harris said.
David Reside, from aTree, was delighted to make the connection.
“Mountain Gin is inspired by locally wild-foraged botanicals and so the Australian forest is in its DNA, but since colonial settlement almost half of our forests have been lost,” he said.
“Partnering with Mountain is a great way to promote environmental restoration, but also to highlight the diverse benefits we can derive from healthy local ecosystems.”
