The Kyneton Car Club is back and ready to race.
Its first event was held at Broadford on January 31 as part of the tarmac series.
With 31 drivers competing the competition was hot, as was the day.
Among the fastest of the day were James Malanaphy in his Yacar, Vlad Basa in his Toyota and James Richmond in his BMW. A couple of drivers that lost their way on the track but soon found their way back.
Club photographer Shirley Caldwell said that to celebrate club stalwart Ken Fay’s 90th birthday, he drove a Subaru around the track for a few laps instead of his Hyundai.
“Ken had such fun in it that he didn’t want to stop,” Shirley said.
“He did really well considering it was a much more powerful car. Happy birthday Ken and have a great celebration with your friends.”
The club’s next meeting is still to be determined so to find out more visit kynetoncarclub.com.au.
“It is good to be back racing after a COVID-19 horror year that has affected our whole country,” Shirley said.
“There are still rules to be followed with our race meetings to make sure this pandemic does not start again, so please be aware.
“Take care and don’t forget your mask, wash your hands and be socially distanced.”
