CEO steps down

RM Begg Aged Care Kyneton CEO Meredith Grant is stepping down from the role.

RM Begg Aged Care Kyneton CEO Meredith Grant will step down from her role next month.

Board chair Phillip Irvine said Ms Grant’s contribution to the home since she joined in 2007 had been significant, and she had been especially pivotal in ensuring services and care of the highest standard during that time.

“Meredith’s resignation is a great loss to the organisation, but the board respects and supports her decision to devote more time to her own family after having given so much to RM Begg,” Mr Irvine said.

“The Board is sure that the extended RM Begg community will join in thanking Meredith very much for her care and dedication, and in wishing her the very best for the future.”

Ms Grant has led the organisation through difficult times, including the public disclosure last year of RM Begg’s serious financial challenges.

Mr Irvine said that while the community responded with some truly wonderful fundraising endeavours, the long-term financial viability of the organisation remained extremely uncertain.

“For over 60 years RM Begg Kyneton Aged Care has been providing high-quality care to the people of Kyneton and the Macedon Ranges, and it is the board’s intention for RM Begg to continue as an organisation of excellence,” he said.

“Therefore, the board is currently exploring how best to safeguard the organisation’s future for the benefit of the community, at a time when many regional, rural and remote aged-care facilities are struggling to stay afloat.”

Mr Irvine said the board would provide further updates regarding strategic directions for the organisation when it was able to do so.

A process is now under way to recruit Ms Grant’s replacement and an announcement will be forthcoming when an appointment has been made. Details of the position can be found in the Classifieds section of this week’s Midland Express.
