MAINfm kicking goals for community

The feathers are set to fly when the Rockatoos and The Radio Galahs go head to head at the Camp Reserve this Saturday!

The second annual MAIN Kick-Off is hitting Castlemaine’s Camp Reserve this Saturday for a community fundraiser of a different kind! The day will feature an all-inclusive game of footy plus loads more and promises to be fun for all!
The day is a major fundraising initiative for 94.9 MAINfm and will kick off the station’s subscriptions drive across the month of June, all in the name of encouraging locals to support their community radio station.
MAINfm has gathered teams of all genders and people of mixed abilities to get among it and just give it a go. The big game will see The Rockatoos going head to head against The Radio Galahs – teams made up of local musicians, radio presenters, tradies, and other members of the community keen to get involved.
Coaches Alana Wearne and Sam Henty have enjoyed the challenges of coaching the players.
“Most of the players from last year’s game have signed up to play again, keen to build on the excitement and fun of last year, not to mention the camaraderie, fitness and self-esteem,” Alana says.
Not only will event-goers get to watch an action-packed game of footy, they’ll also be treated to live, local entertainment, face painting, jumping castle, alongside food trucks, coffee and the MAINfm bar. Entertainment includes local bands: World Turtle World and Stop That Mammoth, plus the Movement Zone Soul Funk Crew and Lady Fun Times.
The MAINfm van will be broadcasting live from the event for those listening at home, with live and entertaining commentary from on the ground.
MAINfm 94.9 station manager Tina Helm says they are looking forward to another fantastic event.
“Last year’s event was a great success and we’re hoping this feeds into our annual subscriptions drive to raise awareness and keep our radio station on the airwaves well into the future.”
MAINfm thanks local organisations and businesses HALT (Hope Assistance Local Tradies), Harcourt Valley Vineyards, Shedshaker Brewing and Thompson Family Funerals for getting behind the annual drive.
Gates will open at midday, with entertainment starting at 12.30pm. The game kicks off at 1.30pm. Entry: free for MAINfm subscribers, $5 for non- subscribers and free for kids Under 12. For more info visit: www.mainfm.net/themainkickoff
