Council urges EPA action

Macedon Ranges Shire Council will write to the Environment Protection Authority expressing concern for Coliban Water’s continuing discharge of diminished quality wastewater into the Campaspe River and lack of consultation with council and the community regarding the discharges.
A Notice of Motion put forward by Cr Roger Jukes was supported unanimously at last week’s council meeting.
The council will request the EPA expedites its investigation into alleged breaches of the water licence with full transparency to the community.
Copies of the correspondence will also be delivered to Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas and the Minister for Water Lisa Neville.
The council has also requested the mayor and CEO meet with Ms Neville, as a matter of urgency, to discuss issues related to the capacity of the Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant.
