Murmuring Walk launched at Mount Macedon

Artists Charlotte Roberts, Ria Soemardjo and Sandra Fiona Long at Sanatorium Lake on Mount Macedon.

A guided audio experience has launched that’s inspired by the environment and the birdlife inhabiting the lush bush surrounds of Sanatorium Lake, Mount Macedon.

Connected by your personal device, ‘Murmuring Walk’ allows participants to enter a contemplative space that will bring Sanatorium Lake to life with a multi-layered and poetic soundtrack featuring exquisite vocals, rhythms and composition.

Murmuring Walk’s creators were musician Ria Soemardjo, writer Sandra Fiona Long and Macedon Ranges’ local performer Charlotte Roberts, who share a passion for connecting deeply with natural environments.

Sandra and Ria are long-time collaborators creating immersive performances around Australia and Asia, Charlotte is a talented musician and vocalist and together they have drawn on expertise in writing, performance making, facilitation, vocal improvisation and sound design to produce this latest piece.

Participants can do the walk at any time. Starting at ‘Lions Head Road Carpark’, a five-minute drive up the road from Days Picnic ground, ‘Murmuring Walk’ is about 40 minutes. Audience members may pause at any point, or linger at points of interest or contemplation.

Mobile internet connection is not always reliable in the area so participants are encouraged to download the audio files, map and instructions first.
