Escape to the vines this January

Hunter-Gatherer Vintners will host 'The Wine Gathering' on Saturday as part of this month's Summertime Fling Festival.

After a year of seemingly endless rain, summertime has finally arrived. And in the Macedon Ranges, the vignerons are ready to celebrate!

Join them for a month-long celebration of wine, summer and good times as they welcome back the Summertime Fling Festival for the third year running.

Originally conceived as a way to support the wineries and connect with customers in between COVID lockdowns, the vignerons quickly realised it was an event worth keeping. Each weekend of the festival offers a different selection of events hosted by a number of wineries across the region.

Head to Zig Zag Winery for some summertime beats, barbecue and wine, or meander over to Hunter-Gatherer for a special tasting from a selection of regional winemakers – both established and up-and-coming.

If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, you might fancy joining Attwoods Wines winemaker Troy Walsh for a five-course set lunch with matched wines or Lyons Will’s Food + Fire + Wine, a culinary extravaganza created by Danish born superstar chef Bente Grysbaek. Or try foods matched exclusively to Italian varietal Greco at Mount Monument.

Keep that Italian vibe going with Festa Italiana at Mount Towrong. Or settle in for a picnic among the vines at Red Hare Estate. How about pinot noir and a guided painting session? Gisborne Peak has everything you need.

Looking to bring your dog along? Check out Cleveland Winery’s Pizza and Pooches.

And there will be live music from a suite of talented musicians at Granite Hills, Hanging Rock, Kyneton Ridge and Passing Clouds.

You’ll find dozens of small, bespoke wineries ready with a warm welcome and a cool glass of wine all summer long. All you need to do is relax, enjoy the views, and let the stresses slip away.
