Kyneton Theatre Company is holding its annual fundraiser next Saturday, July 18, and this year, it’s a karaoke disco night.
“It was all inspired by the ‘porch karaoke’ we used to have at cast parties,” committee member Lucy Watson explained.
“We would all pull songs up on YouTube and sing them to the party on my porch. Only, one year we got a noise complaint — for singing show tunes too loudly!”
So now, it’s gone official, with the Kyneton Mechanics Institute as the venue.
“Hopefully, it’s the same joyous spirit!” Lucy said.
As with cabaret nights in the past, all are welcome to go along and sing, and acts can sing pop, rock, musical theatre, anything they like. People can also just come to cheer for the performers.
You can also bring your own snacks. Drinks will be available from the bar.
Booking is recommended and, though it’s arranged by table, it’s recommended that you either book on a table and then tell your friends which number, or book on Tables 10, 11 or 12 as they’re the designated General Admission tables.
All funds raised will go to KTC to continue creating local community theatre productions.
