Gisborne District Cricket Association has just completed a successful week of junior male and female representative matches.
The association sent an Under 17 and two Under 14 female teams to the Northern Rivers Junior Country Week for the first time.
The U14As (pictured) defeated Goulburn Murray in the final, and the Under 17s fell just short in their final against Shepparton.
In Central Highlands Region Country Week for junior males, the GDCA Under 15s defeated Ballarat in a rain interrupted final played at Darley, while Ballarat beat Gisborne in the Under 13 final.
Competing associations were Castlemaine, Ballarat, Gisborne, Grampians, Grenville and Maryborough.
In the combined Barwon – Central Highlands Championships, the GDCA’s Under 15 and Under 17 teams remain undefeated after five rounds of competition.
This Sunday the Unders 15s meet Ballarat and the Under 17s play Colac in their finals on Sunday in Ballarat.

GDCA president Rob McIntyre extended congratulations to the coaches, team managers and players who represented the association with distinction.
“A thank-you to he players’ parents for their assistance and support as well,” he added.
Due to the impact of COVID some associations withdrew teams from scheduled matches.
