Castlemaine Football Netball Club’s new senior women footballers are celebrating this week after claiming the ‘atWork Australia Cup’ at Shepparton on Sunday.
This was a significant day for the team as it was also the first time they had played together, 2022 being the first season CFNC has fielded a senior women’s side!
The side is coached by Tiahna Cochrane and assistant coach Jordan Cochrane.
Playing five games against Benalla, Echuca, Tatura and Shepparton United with the final played against a very competitive Echuca Football Netball Club, the Magpies emerged victorious and the club is so proud of how far the side have come throughout preseason.
Goal kickers included Shelby Knoll, Tiahna Cochrane, Lily McNair, Ella Cochrane and Emily Cooper.
Coach Tiahna Cochrane thanked to all the teams involved, the MBCM Northern Country Women’s League, atWork Australia, team sponsor Mt Alexander Timber and Hardware, as well as the volunteers and parents who came and supported the side in Shepparton.
We can’t wait to see what’s ahead of them this year! Keep an eye out for their debut AFL Central Victoria game against Kyneton under lights at the Camp Reserve on April 9.
