Kyneton Under 19.5s footballers will field their strongest side for the season in the Riddell League’s preliminary final tomorrow (Saturday).

The young Tigers play the talented Macedon Cats, reigning premiers who have been too good for Kyneton so far this season.

“We’ve finally got some depth, and are ready to turn in a good performance tomorrow …. there should be a really good crowd at the Kyneton Showgrounds,” Tigers’ coach David Nolte said today.

“Macedon’s entitled to be favourites, but we are really looking forward to the challenge.

“Injuries have taken their toll this season, but we finally had excess players available at selection last night,” Nolte added.

The Kyneton FNC is calling on all supporters and others interested in football and netball to come along tomorrow. The Under 19.5s match begins at 10am.

The Tigers are delighted to be allocated the preliminary final in their first season in the Riddell League.

MACEDON IN THREE GAMES

Macedon senior footballers finished in fifth place, but under coach Al Meldrum’s astute leadership the Cats have eliminated Romsey and Diggers Rest, and take on Wallan in the main match tomorrow.

The Cats have re-signed champion forward and captain Jason Cooke for next season, and he is coming off a match-winning seven goals in last Sunday’s semi-final.

Macedon netballers are also playing in a semi-final at Kyneton tomorrow.

The A-grade netball preliminary final is between in-form Riddell and Wallan. Woodend-Hesket is already in the grand final.

Macedon’s Sarah Wright will play her 100th game for the Cats on Saturday.

Kyneton’s Under 19.5s team for the preliminary final is:

Back line: Josh Johnston, Josh Gray, Lachie Sheahan.

Half back: Charlie May, Ollie Plunkett, Cormac Sutton.
