Creatives from across Bendigo, Macedon Ranges, Mount Alexander and beyond will feature in the Conflux Bendigo event this Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10.

The inspiring group of creative collaborators will deliver a bold, diverse and exciting program of panel discussions, masterclasses, practitioner presentations, thought-provoking conversations, workshops and performances.

Castlemaine electronic musician and tertiary educator, Louise Terra, is among the local trailblazers set to take part.

Dja Dja Wurrung based artist Terra is a composer and producer writing genre-busting electronica.

Over the past seven years, Terra has been singing in disco outfit Sugar Fed Leopards, all the while crafting an arsenal of mesmerising solo electronic music.

With her voice, a few synths and a computer, she seeks out gorgeous yet unsettling sounds to mutate into deliriously hooky fantasy-pop.

Terra’s songs are time capsules by design; weird and beautiful offerings from an artist grappling with the existential conundrums of creating within the anthropocene.

Terra said she was looking forward to being the moderator for a panel discussion around the topic of ‘New Models for the Music Industry’ on Friday, featuring four musicians and music industry personnel.

“Saturday I will be taking part in a conversation around ‘VR and the Independent Musician’ with filmmaker and artist Sarah-Jane Woulahan who is currently completing her PHD,” Terra said.

“I will be doing a bit of a live performance as part of this event, sharing some of my electronic music with the audience.

“I am really enjoying working in the VR space and the opportunities for that virtual reality experience to be explored by artists and take music to into a whole new creative space.

“We have been filming my live performances from 360 degrees, capturing the performance from all angles.

“People can then enjoy the music and imagery via a VR Oculus headset or even computer technology. It’s a real immersive experience.

“I am really looking forward to the event. It’s been so long since we could have a conference like this. I look forward to meeting with other creative thinkers from all fields and sharing in some really stimulating conversations around the arts and creative space,” she said.
