Victorians have until 8pm tonight to enrol to vote and ensure they have their say at the state election later this month.
Australian citizens who’ve recently turned 18 or changed their address can complete an online enrolment form or download a paper form at vec.vic.gov.au. Paper enrolment forms must be received by the Victorian Electoral Commission by the 8pm deadline tonight.
Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately urged voters to check their enrolment details to make sure their voice was heard on Saturday November 26.
“If you’ve already checked your enrolment details are up-to-date, then you’re all set to vote in this year’s state election. If you haven’t checked, take a few minutes to do it now to make voting in the election much easier,” Mr Gately said.
“Every vote matters, and being correctly enrolled means it is easier to participate in Victorian democracy.
“You’ll be processed more quickly through the voting centre, or, if voting by post, your ballot pack will be sent to the right address.”
Further information on enrolling to vote in this year’s State election is available on the website at vec.vic.gov.au, where voters can also sign up for the VEC’s free VoterAlert service for important election reminders.
