Kyneton’s not-for-profit Cathouse Players will soon prove that laughter is the best medicine, in their cosy pop-up theatre at the Kyneton Masonic Centre, 7 Yaldwyn Street West.
Not Now, Darling by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, is a ripper of a British farce, and is set in the exclusive London fur salon of Bodley, Bodley and Crouch.
It’s the 1970s. Serial womaniser and charming ladies’ man Gilbert Bodley is planning his next conquest, the seduction of his would-be-mistress, Janie McMichael, a stripper from the Lido. However, when Mrs Maude Bodley suddenly returns from her South of France holiday, events rapidly unravel and chaos ensues involving mistaken identities, sets of ladies underwear, an ocelot coat, a parrot and the Royal Navy.
Matinees are at 2pm on June 20/21 and June 27/28, and a performance on Friday June 26 at 8pm. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
Ticket prices for Cathouse Players productions remain at $25/$20 and include sherries, programs, interval refreshments serving wine and cheese at the evening show, and their legendary ‘High Tea with Bubbles’ at the 2pm matinees.
