Riddells Creek Leisure Centre will soon be expanded.

Last week Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas announced Macedon Ranges Shire Council would receive $230,000 from the state’s Growing Suburbs Fund.

The Leisure Centre’s current multipurpose room was built in 1994. This project will nearly double the size of the room, creating more room for more people to take part in activities such as dancing, martial arts and group fitness classes. There will also be a new kitchenette, additional storage space, wall mirrors and mounted ballet barre.

“This investment will be great for local families, children and everyone in our community,” Ms Thomas said.

The Growing Suburbs Fund was designed to help Melbourne’s rapidly developing interface and peri-urban councils deliver high-quality facilities for their communities.

This is the second time Macedon Ranges has received Growing Suburbs Fund support, after the popular and successful fund was expanded to peri-urban councils in 2020. Last year, the fund allocated $3.2 million for the Macedon Ranges Regional Sports Precinct Stage 1.
