John Butler is hitting the stage in Harcourt this weekend to support The Thin Green Line Foundation and their work with Indigenous women rangers.
The internationally revered artist will be joined in the lineup by brother-in-law Nicky Bomba, wife Danielle Caruana and good mate Dingo Spender of Mama Kin Spender – as well as by Jess Ribeiro, Marty Williams and Carissa Nyalu.
John Butler said he was incredibly proud to be playing this gig.
“It’s a bit of a family affair, so it will be very chill and a lot of fun,” he said.
“All the artists are super passionate about celebrating Indigenous culture and protecting country – and music connects all of us, audience included, to a great cause.”
Greenline Groves – Rhythms in the Red Gums will be an opportunity for families and friends to relax under the mighty gums at the Harcourt Valley Winery while they enjoy some fine Aussie music.
It’s happening on Saturday April 2. Gates will open at 11am, with an 11.30am welcome to Dja Dja Wurrung Country opening the day’s event.
The Thin Green Line Foundation’s founder, Sean Willmore, explained that money raised from the event on Saturday would support Indigenous women rangers in the Kimberley, Western Desert and Far North, as part of their international Indigenous women rangers program.
“It’s hard to overstate the importance of supporting these women rangers. They’re powerful leaders and role models in their communities and make a huge impact as they care for culture, community and country,” he said.
The Thin Green Line Foundation supports rangers in nearly 60 countries around the world.
“Our work protecting nature’s protectors is globally recognised because rangers play such a critical role in safeguarding our planet’s biodiversity and mitigating the effects of climate change,” Willmore said.
“We’re so very proud to have Dr Jane Goodall as our patron. Her involvement lets you know we are doing something right!”
