Modern parents have a lot to keep track of while balancing the needs of small people.
We are concerned about climate change, wars, pandemics, inequality, elections, the list goes on, and yet we want the world to be a good place for our children and we want our lives to be full of joy and wellness.
I’m with Liz Canning, MOTHERLOAD filmmaker, when she says there is a way, a cargo-bike way: “This machine fights climate change, while building community, equity and joy”.
A cargo-bike is a vehicle that can solve many issues at the same time. It’s a car replacement, so many benefits already; it’s a form of daily exercise, we all need to move more; its a way to connect with other people because you are outside on the street not inside your car; it’s an inspiration and lesson to your children that you can ride a bike to get yourself around to where you need to go; and most importantly, it’s a source of joy – to ride with your family, to be seen riding gives joy, to be outside moving at a beautiful pace through the world.
Bubs On Bikes Cargo Expo
CycleSafe Mount Alexander and The Hub Foundation bring you three cargo and e-bike companies at the Bubs On Bikes Cargo Expo.
Go along and try out a few bikes, talk to people who own cargo bikes and enjoy the atmosphere of people loving bikes.
We know there has been a cargo-bike and e-bike explosion in Castlemaine, you pack of legends, we’ve got you covered too. You can join in on our Kiddical-Mass ride from Victory park at 9.30am.
Get the kids on bikes and join CycleSafe’s Ashay with horns, bells and noisy, dragging tin cans to ride to the expo. Make it known that kids want to ride safely through our town.
At the expo itself you can have a go at loading up boxes of ‘cargo’ and riding our obstacle course to test your skills. Our boiler-suited time keeper will be onsite to keep track. Spot prizes!
Konjo Mama with the good food and coffee, CycleSafe with the delicious juice bike, MaCapellas with the sweet tunes and Paddy Toasty with the bike fun.
The expo is on from 10am – 2pm, Sunday May 22.
