Macedon A-grade netballers missed out on a golden opportunity to catapult into fifth place on the ladder when beaten by two goals in an exciting finish against Wallan on Saturday.
The Cats were tied 30-30 at home at the last change, but the visitors rallied to stay in second place, behind Lancefield on percentage.
After showing some promising form, Riddell finally put it all together with a confidence-building 58-43 margin against fourth-placed Gisborne Giants.
The Bombers had Amelia Haxby, Hayley Brown and Milly Shaw in top form, and a 20-7 first quarter advantage proved decisive. Malia Seumanutafa (34 goals), Lauren Clymo and Madeline Quigley were the Giants’ best.
Romsey A-graders are still looking for their first win after going down 68-52 to Melton Centrals.
Kyneton scored a fourth successive victory to move into sixth place, with superstar shooter Ellie Bird again in dynamic form with 64 goals in the 71-48 victory at home to Diggers Rest.
Rarely has an imported player made such a monumental impact as Bird — opposition sides have simply had no answers to her dominance.
