Filming of a supernatural horror/romance feature film, Magpie, has begun at Railway Farm Trentham, with the main shoot planned for early 2023.
Written and produced by Darren Markey, produced and directed by Kate Whitbread, and billed as Wuthering Heights meets The Ring, Magpie follows the story of a man, mourning the death of his wife, who turns to online dating for comfort with terrifying consequences that will either destroy him – or set him free.
The team behind Magpie is hosting a fundraising event, The Magpie Ball, at the beautiful Cosmopolitan Hotel in Trentham on Friday December 9.
This fun and fabulous night will feature live entertainment, an interview with Trentham local and host of the Magpie shoot, Mary Walsh, delicious stand up dinner/cocktail food from The Cosmo, beer and wine on arrival, an exclusive first look at Magpie footage already shot at Railway Farm, raffles and dancing throughout the night.
A silent auction will also be on offer, including: opportunities to be involved in the Magpie production, original art, holiday accommodation for up to ten people in beautiful Rye, collectable vinyl and CDs, tickets to upcoming comedy and cabaret shows, and much more.
“We are thrilled with the local support we have received thus far in shooting preliminary footage for Magpie at Railway Farm and can’t wait to see the good folk from Trentham and surrounds at the Magpie Ball – it’s going to be a lot of fun!” Markey said.
All proceeds from the night will go towards the production of Magpie.
Tickets are liminted so book now at Eventbrite.com.au to avoid disappointment.
